The Land Rover Miramar MS Bay to Bay Bike Tour provides some individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS) the opportunity to cycle along the coast with cyclists ranging from beginner to expert, individual to team, and celebrity to family.

For the past few years, a tandem bicycle has made its way up the Torrey Pines Hill pedaled by team "Lloyd's Lagers" fearless leader, Lloyd von Sprecken, and his son, Todd. Lloyd has been inspiring riders with and without MS for many years.  In honor of his commitment to ending the devastating effects of MS, we created The Lloyd von Sprecken "Most Inspirational Rider Award".

The 2006 Lloyd von Sprecken Most Inspirational Rider Award was presented to Michael Plumlee.  Michael was diagnosed with MS ten years ago.  A few years after his diagnosis, he had several years of frequent attacks to the point where symptoms made him unable to tie his own shoes. A change in his medication, exercise, and his passion for cycling has allowed him the past six years with no major exacerbations. His cycling has also provided him an opportunity to give back by becoming an active participant on the MS Bike Tour planning committee as Route Chair.
